WAS THAT THE LAST TIME!?!?

Nov. 23rd was my last entry.   Boy, lots of water has gone under the bridge since then.

On the 25th, (it had been a week)  I went to the doctor about this toe I already KNEW was broken.  He confirmed that and put me in a wooden shoe until Dec. 23rd.  I'm SO MAD!!!   Right here at Christmas time, when it's so busy anyway, and I had to fall down the stairs!!!  My joints and muscles are not recovering from that either.  Clumsy idiot!!!  I went today, and got an hour massage.   Monica swears that will help.  Hope so.   I asked the therapist if she'd just go home with me.  It felt SO GOOD while she was working on me!!

Then came Thanksgiving on the 26th.  Julie had the dinner.  Julie's Mom and Dad came the day before, then stayed here at night.  On Friday, I left to go to Missouri to my husband's Aunt's visitation.   My husband's sister and her hubby, and his brother and his wife rode down with me.  We stayed overnight and came home Saturday after the funeral.  Julie's Mom and Dad stayed till Sunday morning, then left just before I went to church.

When I got home that afternoon, Dale was on his last 25 acres of corn in nothing but sloppy mud!!!   When they got the semi full, I decided I'd ride to the grain terminal with Francie, (about 25 miles away) who was driving the semi.   We got about half way to the terminal, when Dale called on the cell phone and said, "Tell Francie not to be in a hurry to get back.  The combine's in the middle of the field and won't start.

The next day (Monday) I took Dylan first thing, to the dentist to get his lower braces off.  He is now wearing a retainer, and gets the top ones off next Monday.

That afternoon the repairman brought out a whole new computer system, off another combine they had in stock, so Dale could finish the harvest.  All except 10 acres finished, but the next morning, Dale and 14 year old Dylan had to go to a chemical class.  That afternoon, he finally finished harvest.   He said, the last 'through', the last area was  pure sloppy mud, so he took a big run at it, the corn all wound up on top of the grain table, and Dylan pushed it in so they could shell it.

WHAT A FARM YEAR!!!!!  There are still many farmers not done.

Yesterday, I went to the accountant for a pre-tax appointment and that took two and a half hours.
The bride, (my grand-daughter) who got married in my back yard, last summer had gall bladder surgery, yesterday too, so since she ordered my home-made vegetable soup for recovery, I'll be taking that to her tomorrow after I go to church to practice.  I'm subbing for the next two Sundays, on the organ.

I've decided it must have been an animal that injured my cat's leg.   Now, she has a big area of hair ripped off the big part of her tail, and there are two fang holes.  We're going to put her in the house overnight for a couple of nights, bait a live trap with sardines, and see if we can catch whatever it was.  Since my cat food is disappearing faster than one cat can eat it, we'll remove that and put the trap there.

That's not all, but it's enough for this time.   Next time I'll try to remember to tell you about our giggle at the motel in Missouri.  Right now......it's 4 P.M. and I'm going to bed.  Can't handle any more up-time for today.   I'M SO MAD!!!!

I WISH SOMEBODY'D TELL 'EM.........................

HALLOWEEN'S OVER!!!!    I just went out and de-bugged the garage again.  OH HOW I HATE THOSE HALLOWEEN BEETLES!!!

I see you Missouri folks are sending your rain this way, for tonight, so I Emptied all the trash cans, and burned the trash.  I knew it was about time for another rain, because my creek is finally back in the banks, and the fields were just now not looking 'slick' with mud.   Dale still has 160 acres of corn in the field.  He said he tried picking yesterday, but it was making such deep ruts, he was nearly getting the combine stuck.  A fellow at church yesterday, says he has another 240 acres and has been cutting ruts so deeply that they'll be dealing with them for at least 3 years, trying to get the dirt smoothed back out.  When it WAS dry enough, the elevator would open at 7 A.M., and close almost every day at 10 A.M. because they couldn't dry it fast enough to let them keep bringing it in.   With nowhere to get rid of it, they couldn't keep picking it.    WHAT A YEAR!!!!!!!!

Been to a funeral this morning, then went and picked up a power washer repair part for Ken, for the locker plant,  in the same town as the funeral, then after the funeral, took that to him....about 50 miles the OTHER direction from home.  He and his helpers were just sitting down to eat a hamburger and fries, so I joined them.

I need to clean the car on the inside and in the trunk for a trip to Missouri.  But I done used up all my energy taking out the trash and cleaning that  z!$*(!x  buggy  garage.      My husband's aunt passed away last evening, and some of us are going to Cape Girardeau for that funeral.  It may not be till next Friday though.  Her son didn't know yet, when he called last night.

O.K.   Now the couch is trying to escape.  Gotta go catch it and hold it down.

Ya'all behave now, while I'm restin'.       (o;

My Mom's Deviled Eggs

imsunflower.xanga.com asked for my deviled egg recipe.  The family won't let me eat at the potlucks if I don't bring deviled eggs.   (o;

Thought maybe you'd like to try it too.

I can't give you a real recipe, because it's a "by guess and by golly" one.  Sunflower also said she had trouble boiling a good egg.    I wonder if you're boiling your eggs long enough.  I cover them with water, bring them to a boil..but don't let them boil hard...they'll crack.  I simmer them for about 30 minutes with a lid on.  Then I take one out, run it under cold water to peel it, and cut it in half to see if it's solid enough.  (I also peel all of them under cold running water.  Helps get the membrane off the egg with the shell.)

O.K.  Now for the so called "recipe".  (My Mom taught me how to make them)   I cut them in half, lengthwise, put the whites on a cookie sheet, (I usually use 2 or 3 dozen eggs) and drop the yolks in a food processor.  I then add to the yolks, a bit of prepared mustard...not much,  or they'll taste bitter..., some sugar, red wine vinegar, salt and pepper, and Kraft Salad dressing...not mayonaise.  I then mix it till it's creamy. Taste to see what you need to add, to get the flavor you want.  I then fill the halves with the yolk mixture.  They'll keep several days if you keep them cold.

 When I make them the day before, I lay them on a cookie sheet, on several thicknesses of paper towels, so that soaks up the moisture, and they don't become wet. I then slide the cookie sheet into a plastic bag and refrigerate to keep them fresh.  Good luck.

IT'S BEST, IF YOU DON'T.........

Go down the basement stairs, with both arms full of a big square heavy box, and miss the last step.  It could result in finding yourself lying crumpled up on a concrete floor,  with injured terrible aching shoulder joints, a bump on your hip, knee burns on both knees, unstable knee joints that tried to come through the skin, from the inside out, and a broken swollen blue big toe on your left foot.  It's also horribly hard and painful to get up on your knees in order to get up off the concrete floor, when both knees are already hurting terribly.

I GOT A CALL FROM MONICA, THIS MORNING.............

"Boy, Mom, I sure wish Don was still around to bring me some of those dried apricots he used to get.   I remember when he'd buy those things, and we'd sit around at your house and munch on 'em.  I LOVED those things.   I remember one time he bought a bunch, and I came out to your house, and we ate those, like they were goin' out of style!!!    Later, I couldn't stay out of the bathroom!!"
"Why, what's wrong?"
"Well, that Doctor told me to take Darvocet regularly, to try to break the cycle of these headaches, and now it's caused me to be all plugged up."

I'm laughing so much I can hardly type.

Just now, she called back ..... about 8 hours later, and said
"Boy, I know TWO things I ain't EVER gonna do together again!!"
"What?"
"I ain't NEVER gonna eat apricots and take Milk of Magnesia on the same day again!!  I called Edna, (a friend) and she went and got me some Milk of Magnesia, and since I'd told her about Me 'n Don and those apricots, she brought me some of those too.  Now I can't stay outta the bathroom!!!"

Rachel has a ballgame tonight, but Monica's decided she'd better stay home.   I told her that was probably a wise decision.  LOL

Poor kid!!   She's had those darned headaches SO LONG, she's desperate!  They started the last of September, while I was on that trip.  She's the one I told you about, a while back, about the horrible migraines causing her to see double.  They've put a smoky film over the right lens of her glasses.   I'm about ready to load her and SouthForkCheerMom up, with their headaches, and take them to Rochester, Minnesota to Mayo's Clinic!!!   I can't imagine, because I can only remember having one headache in my whole life, and IT WAS A DOOZIE!!!

That medicine makes her scared and whacky!!! She called Thursday morning, and I went to get her and took Rachel to school, then she came out here and spent the day in bed. Then on Friday, Darrel called a little after 6 A.M. and said she was feeling terrible again, so I went and took Rachel to school, and she came out here and spent the day in bed again.

Well, at least she ain't plugged up no more.   LOLOLOLOLOL

One time about a year ago, I was looking for Cumin, in an unfamiliar store in town and couldn't find it.  I asked a shopper if she shopped there all the time, and if she knew where it was.  She told me which aisle, and I found it.   There was a thrift store not far from there, so I stopped there on the way home.  After a while, I heard someone behind me say, "Did you find the spices?"   I turned and it was the same lady.   She gave me her e-mail address so I could send her the recipe, for which I needed the cumin.  I hadn't seen her since, but we've correspond on the computer ever since.  Last Wednesday, we decided to have lunch together.  We had a really nice visit.

On the way home, I remembered seeing in the local paper, where they needed volunteers to help take down the flags in the cemetery where my husband and other family members are buried.   On national holidays, they put flags along all the little cemetery roads....I'd guess about every 150 feet.  On Memorial Day weekend, they also put smaller individual flags at EVERY GRAVE of a veteran.  They're SO BEAUTIFUL when you're driving through the cemetery.

 So I went on to that town to help take down flags.  We had to take the poles out of the little permanent holders they have to stand them in, roll them up on the pole, then slide each flag into a white cotton sleeve for storage.  There were three pickup trucks that drove along slowly, as we walked, then we'd put them neatly into the truck.  There were four walkers to each pickup truck.  We rolled up 750 flags, then took them to the office building, and stored them in three huge bins, built just for that.  I had only rolled up three flags and had them leaning on a tombstone, when a junior in high school, from that local school buddied up with me.  Sure helped to have two of us to slip them into the sleeves.   I'd take them out of the hole, roll them up, then we'd both put them in the sleeve, and he'd put them in the pickup.  I sure couldn't do it every day, but it felt good to do something patriotic, in honor of all the veterans buried there.  I hope they were looking down from Heaven and know how much I appreciate each of them, so I can live in a free country.  I sure slept good that night.    (o;   I hope I feel like helping them again next spring, on Memorial Day.

Cat update:   She's doing fine.  However, she has managed somehow to lose one of the stitches.  So there's a gap I wish she didn't have, but it IS healing.  She slept in the pet taxi in the boot closet the second night too, but since then, she's been sleeping in the shed.  It's been so rainy and nasty, she hasn't even come up to the porch to jump onto the utility room window sill.  I went out to the shed this morning to fill her feeders, and upon hearing the feed in the can, came down to get petted and  do a little 'cat talking'.   (o;

Did you ever take a pair of slacks out of the washer, with the crotch ripped out, and wonder where all you'd worn them in that condition!?!?!?     They're mended now, but I sure do wonder where I'd worn them.  Maybe it's better that I DON'T know.   (o;    OH MY GOSH!!!!
